Malmö has been announced the Host City of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
The first Semi-final of the 68th ESC will take place in the Malmö Arena on Tuesday, 7th May, the second Semi-final – on Thursday, 11th May and the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 – on Saturday, 11th May 2024.
The 2024 Contest will be organized by the Swedish broadcaster SVT and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) thanks to Loreen, who won the ESC 2023 with her song “Tattoo” in Liverpool and brought Eurovision to Sweden and Malmö for the second time after winning in 2012 with her song “Euphoria” in Baku.
It’ll be the third time that Malmö will host the Eurovision Song Contest. This city hosted the Contest in 1992 and 2013 editions.
Malmö was selected after a detailed examination process taking into consideration different factors, such as, above all, facilities and the ability to accommodate thousands of fans, journalists and delegations.
Sweden will host the Eurovision Song Contest for the seventh time. The previous ‘Swedish editions’ were organized in Stockholm (1975, 2000 and 2016), Göteborg (1985) and the above-mentioned Malmö (1992 and 2013). What’s intriguing it’s the fifth consecutive time that the Contest will not take place in the Host’s capital city.
