The procedure

The UK’s 2024 representative was chosen internally. In an interview for BBC Radio 1, Olly mentioned that he was supposed to represent his country a few years ago, but there wasn’t a suitable song that he could present. Rumors of Alexander’s representing UK at the ESC appeared in 2014, and since the huge success of “King” by Years & Years a year later, they’ve been among the main fan favourites to be the ones who would fight for the UK’s sixth ESC victory.

The idea of participating in the Eurovision Song Contest together with Danny L Harle appeared about a year ago. They experimented with songs that could perform well in the competition. Finally, the selected proposal is completed and ready for publication. According to previous BBC reports, both Olly and his song had been chosen last summer.

Olly Alexander appeared on the Strictly Come Dancing 2023 Final on Saturday (16th December) night and he revealed that he would be representing the UK at next year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
