Basel in Switzerland - Eurovision Song Contest 2025

The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 Host City Revealed

Basel has been announced the Host City of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The first Semi-final of the 69th ESC will take place in St. Jakobshalle on Tuesday, 13th May, the second Semi-final – on Thursday, 15th May and the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 – on Saturday, 17th May 2025.

The 2025 Contest will be organized by the Swiss Broadcaster SRG SSR and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) thanks to Nemo, who won the ESC 2024 with their song “The Code” in Malmö and brought Eurovision to Switzerland.

It’ll be the third time that Switzerland will host the Eurovision Song Contest. This country hosted the Contest in 1956 (the 1st edition) and 1989 (after Céline Dion’s victory in 1988).

After a detailed examination process taking into consideration different factors, such as, above all, facilities and the ability to accommodate thousands of fans, journalists and delegations, the choice came down to two cities – Basel and Geneva. Switzerland’s third-most-populous city – Basel – won out.

What’s intriguing it’s the sixth consecutive time that the Contest will not take place in the Host’s capital city.
