Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui is the Moroccan-Swedish singer, known for most of us as Loreen. She is the first woman and the second artist to have won the Eurovision Contest twice. Thanks to that she is now one of the most famous winners of Eurovision and her songs are listened to all around the world.

Beginnings

Loreen got her first break and gained first fans when she took part in the Swedish Idol 2004, in which she finished fourth overall. The following year she released her promotional single “The Snake” and then worked as segment producer and director for reality TV shows. She returned to the public eye with the song ‘My Heart Is Refusing Me’ during Melodifestivalen 2011, but Melodifestivalen 2012 was even greater success. Loreen won it with her entry “Euphoria” which amazed audience and thanks to that she was able to represent her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Success

And she certainly didn’t miss her chance. Loreen won the competition with a total of 372 points while “Euphoria” became known worldwide. For the next several years the Swedish singer maintained her popularity and in 2023 she won Melodifestivalen with the Song “Tattoo”. Eurovision Queen

Loreen, often called the ‘Eurovision Queen’, created many catchy songs worth listening to, such as “Everytime”, “Statements” or “We Got The Power”. However, while speaking about her amazing voice and great music, we can’t forget about her political activism. During her first Eurovision Contest in Azerbaijan she met local human rights activists and then told reporters that “human rights are violated in Azerbaijan every day. One should not be silent about such things”. She also signed the petition to ban the death penalty in Belarus, supported political prisoners there and spoke about children’s rights.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2024

During the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 Sweden was represented by Marcus & Martinus with their song “Unforgettable”. It wasn’t such a great success as Loreen’s pieces. Loreen herself appeared on the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 stage and presented her two songs “Forever” and “Tattoo”.
