Intriguing information comes from one of the most successful (six victories) countries in the Eurovision Song Contest – Sweden. According to a leading daily Aftonbladet Loreen will take part in Melodifestivalen 2023. It would be her fourth start in the Swedish National Selection. This year’s Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Liverpool, UK after last year’s Ukraine’s win.
Loreen won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 in Azerbaijan with a mesmerising song “Euphoria” which has become the best Eurovision entry ever for many Eurovision Fans and immediately became a hit that you can hear on the radio.
“Euphoria” has been chosen as the best Eurovision song ever in different polls held not only among Eurovision Fans, one of which is the Facebook poll held among Eurovision Enthusiasts in which you could pick one winning Eurovision entry. Loreen received 42% of votes (while the second place’s result was 19%) https://www.facebook.com/groups/1088017845141131/permalink/1124976394778609/.
According to unofficial information Loreen agreed to take part in the Swedish National Selection with the song composed by the creators of her winning entry “Euphoria”.
Alfonbladet states that this information is confirmed by many different sources. The final list of Melodiefestivalen 2023 participants should be released at the end of November. According to some sources Loreen is said to make the final decision at the very last minute.
Who’s Loreen?
Loreen (Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui) born in 1983 made her debut in 2004 finishing fourth in the Swedish version of the talent show Idol. She took part in Melodiefestivalen in 2011 with her song “My Heart Is Refusing Me” finishing in the Second Chance Round. She participated in Melodiefestivalen for the second time as early as in 2012 winning the contest and then finishing first in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan. For the third time she took part in Melodiefestivalen in 2017 with the song “Statements” but she didn’t make it to the finals.
