This time I’m going to show you my honest reaction to the song that will represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is “Shh” by Theo Evan whose full name is Evangelos Theodorou. This will be the first time since 2017 that Cyprus is represented by a Cypriot-born artist.

Well, frist things first. It’s pop, reggaeton.

This year’s Cypriot entry was chosen internally.

This year’s Cypriot song was composed by a party of five and it’s sung in English.

What’s the song about?

“I’ve got golden locks and eyes so captivating

I am famous for my beauty, who am I (Shh)

I’ve been told I’m a little overconfident

And this will be my downfall, who am I (Shh)

I fell in deep

I lost my heartbeat

Stuck in between

The heaven and hell in me

I fell in deep

I lost my heartbeat

Follow the bloodstream

Hush, hush

If you know my name then please don’t repeat it

Hush, hush

If you know my name then keep it a secret”

Is this going to be a massive hit? Hmm, why not?

All in all, I’d say this is a good song with great vocals.

As each juror ranked all of the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I assigned points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):

– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;

– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;

– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;

– overall impression of the act,  9 out of 10.

So the total is:  38 out of 40 points that is 95%.

My question was: “Will Theo’s shh lead him to victory?” To get the best result for Cyprus Theo would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Cyprus so far was the 2^nd place; it happened once: it was in 2018).

In the end, I can only say: Well done, Theo! Congratulations, Cyprus! I assumed this song might qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depended on the other entries as well. Do you agree, Guys?

What did the bookmakers say about the Cypriot entry? Well, at that moment (3^rd May 2025) it was in the 11^th place (on eurovisionworld.com).
