Poland’s selected its entry for the 21st Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which is held in France this year. We know who will go to Nice as the tenth representative of Poland in this Contest. It’s Maja Krzyżewska who won Szansa na Sukces 2023 with the song “I Just Need a Friend”.
Procedure – Semi-finals
By the decision of the three semi-final episodes’ jurors, five young performers made it to the final of Szansa na Sukces (Chance for Success) (one contestant from each episode and two additional winners of the Golden Tickets). They performed some popular hits including the Eurovision ones.
Procedure – Final
In the first stage of the Final, the young artists performed covers of the 21st century hits. The best two were selected by the jury and the audience in a 50/50 ratio, awarding points on a scale of 1, 2, 3, 5 to 7.
Procedure – Superfinal
Leon Olek and Maja Krzyżewska advanced to the superfinal to present the JESC 2023 song “I Just Need a Friend”. The song was written especially for the Junior Eurovision by Patryk Kumór, Carla Fernandes, Maria Dzięcielak (lyrics); Carla Fernandes, Dominic Buczkowski-Wojtaszek, Patryk Kumór, Piotr Zborowski (music). In the superfinal, it was only the public who voted by sending SMSes, and Maja Krzyżewska’s performance gained more votes and she will go to Nice.
I stage (jury + public):
1. Leon Olek – 7 + 5 = 12 > Superfinal
2. Maja Krzyżewska – 1 + 7 = 8 > Superfinal
3. Daria Malicka – 5 + 2 = 7
4. Filip Robak – 2 + 3 = 5
5. Gracjana Górka – 3 + 1 = 4
II stage (public):
1. Maja Krzyżewska – “I Just Need a Friend” > The Winner
2. Leon Olek – “I Just Need a Friend”
