This time I’m going to show you my honest reaction on the song that represented Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is “Wasted Love” by JJ whose full name is Johannes Pietsch.

Well, frist things first.
This year’s Austrian entry was chosen internally.
This year’s Austria’s song was composed by a team of three and one of them was JJ and it’s sung in English.
What’s the song about?
“Now that you’re gone
All I have is wasted love
This wasted love
Now that you’re gone
Can’t fill my heart with wasted love
This wasted love”
Is this going to be a massive hit? Hmm, why not?
All in all, I’d say this is a good song with great vocals.
As each juror ranked all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I assigned points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):
– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.
So the total is: 38 out of 40 points that is 95%.
My question was: “Will JJ’s wasted love lead him to victory?” To get the best result for Austria he would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Austria so far has been the 1st place; it happened twice: it was in 1966 and 2014).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, JJ! Congratulations, Austria! I assumed this song would qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depended on the other entries as well. Do you agree, Guys?
What did the bookmakers say about the Austrian entry? Well, at that moment (23rd March 2025) it was in the 2nd place (on eurovisionworld.com).
