Kaleen – the Eleventh Participant for Eurovision 2024

Austria’s chosen its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, which takes place in Malmö, Sweden. It’s Kaleen, who’ll represent her country, which is taking part in the ESC for the 56th time.

The composition

The song hasn’t been chosen yet and is to be released at a later date (at the beginning of March). The authors of this techno-inspired song “We Will Rave” are three Swedish composers, including Jimmy Joker Thörnfeldt – co-author of Loreen’s “Tattoo”.

The procedure

The Austrian ESC representative was chosen internally by the Austrian broadcaster ÖRF.

Kaleen – “Games” – Austria | ESC 2024

Kaleen, whose real name’s real name is Marie-Sophie Kreissl, was born in 1994.  Kaleen is the Austrian dancer, singer, songwriter, choreographer, and model. Kaleen has been dancing since the age of two and a half years competing in state and European championships, and later, sharing the stage with many stars (for example Anastacia).

What’s intriguing ‘Kaleen’ means ‘water’ in the language of the Wiradjuri tribe of the central west region of New South Wales.

Kaleen describes her music as “vibrant” and her musical inspirations are Ariana Grande and Katy Perry.

Kaleen has already ‘participated’ at the ESC – she was a stand-in for Eleni Foureira in rehearsals for her ESC 2018 song “Fuego”.

Kaleen has also cooperated with Marvin Dietmann, the creative director of the Australian Voyager’s performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool.

In recent years, Marie-Sophie has collaborated with Spaniards being their JESC 2021 and 2022 choreographer. Kaleen also supported teams from Austria, Armenia, Georgia and Germany during the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, UK.

Eurovision Song Contest 2024

The Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Malmö, Sweden on Tuesday, 7th May (the First Semi-final), Thursday, 9th May (the Second Semi-final) and Saturday, 11th May (the Grand Final) 2024.
