This time I’m going to show you my most sincere reaction to the song that will represent Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. This is “Fire” by Sarah Engels.

Well, first things first.

The German entry was chosen by the public (in the Final) and the jury in the 1^st round.

This year’s German song was created by Dario Schürmann, Luisa Heinemann, Raphael Lott, Sarah Engels herself and Valentin Boes. It’s sung in English.

What genre is that? It’s a modern pop song with strong dance and electropop influences.

What’s the song about?

“Fire” is about finding your inner strength and rising again like a fire.

Sarah Engels, formerly known as Sarah Lombardi, is a German singer and television personality.

A fun fact: Sarah is of Italian descent. She married Pietro Lombardi and changed her name to Lombardi. Then they got separated.

Vocal analysis:

Sarah’s vocals are stable and well-controlled, even during more dynamic moments. She delivers the chorus with strong power, though the tone stays more polished than raw.

Is this going to be a banger? Hmm, first let’s ask a question: Is this song going to make it to the Grand Final?

All in all, I’d say this is a very good song with great vocals.

As each juror is going to rank all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I will assign points in the same categories (eurovision.com):

– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;

– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;

– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;

– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.

So the total is: 38 out of 40 points that is 95%.

Will Sarah’s “Fire” lead her to victory? We’ll see if she will get the best result for Germany. To do that she would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Germany so far was the 1^st place; it happened twice: it was in 1982 and 2010).

In the end, I can only say: Well done, Sarah! Congratulations, Germany! I assume this song might be successful in the Grand Final because Germany doesn’t have to qualify for the Grand Final as the member of the so-called Big Five. What do you think, Guys?

What do the bookmakers say about the German entry? Well, at this moment (14^th April 2026) France is in 23^rd/35 place.
