Sarah Bonnici – the Sixteenth Participant for Eurovision 2024

Malta’s chosen its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, which takes place in Malmö, Sweden. It’s Sarah Bonnici, who’ll represent their country, which is taking part in the ESC for the 36th time.

The composition

The title of the song’s “Loop” and it was created by John Emil Johansson, Joy Deb, Kevin Lee, Linnea Deb, Leire Gotxi Angel, Matthew James Borg, Michael Joe Cini, Sebastian Pritchard-James and Sarah Bonnici herself. It’s sung in English.

The procedure

The Maltese ESC representative was chosen by the jury (78%) and the public (22%). Sarah took 1st place in the jury voting (shared with St. Pedro) and in the public voting she finished second becoming the 36th Maltese representative at the Eurovision Song Contest.

What do we know about Sarah Bonnici?

Sarah Bonnici was born in 1998. Since childhood, she took singing lessons with Miriam Christine, who represented Malta at Eurovision in 1996. Her first contact with Eurovision was in 2009, when she took part in the national final of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. She took 3rd place with “The Mambo Song”. Later, she took part in several different reviews and festivals in Malta. In 2022, she made her debut in the Maltese National Selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. With the composition “Heaven” she finished 12th in the final.

Eurovision Song Contest 2024

The Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Malmö, Sweden on Tuesday, 7th May (the First Semi-final), Thursday, 9th May (the Second Semi-final) and Saturday, 11th May (the Grand Final) 2024.
