This time I’m going to show you my honest reaction on the song that will represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is “Serving” by Miriana Conte.

Well, frist things first.
This year’s Maltese entry was chosen both by the public and jury. Miriana won the jury voting and came second according to the public.
This year’s Maltese song was composed by a team of four and one of them was Miriana and it’s sung in English.
What’s the song about?
The original title of the song, “Kant” which in Maltese means “singing”, is repeated in the chorus through a pun that recalls the expression serving cunt, used to describe a bold and self-confident person in queer and drag cultures. In the end, it was changed into “Serving”.
She puts her critics to shame in the new music video. They said she was “dead” when the EBU said she couldn’t serve “Kant”, so that’s why she appears with an oxygen mask. They said she was “trashy”, so our she wears a trash bag and puts empty drink cans in her hair.

Is this going to be a massive hit? Hmm, why not?
All in all, I’d say this is a good song with great vocals.
As each juror ranked all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I assigned points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):
– composition and originality of the song, 10 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.
So the total is: 39 out of 40 points that is 98%.
My question was: “Will Miriana’s serving lead her to victory? To get the best result for Malta Miriana would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Malta so far has been the 2nd place; it happened twice: it was in 2002 and 2005).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, Miriana! Congratulations, Malta! I assumed this song would qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depended on the other entries as well. Do you agree, Guys?
What did the bookmakers say Maltese entry? Well, at that moment (12th April 2025) it was in the 12th place (on eurovisionworld.com).
