Israel wins the ESC 2024. True or false? Stay with me to the very end of this article and watch the video to find out if this is possible and if you’d like to hear me sing a snippet of Eden’s song.

This time I’m going to show you my honest comment on the song that will represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. This is “Hurricane” by Eden Golan.

Well, frist things first. An instrumental introduction to this song that grabs my attention from the very beginning. It already gives me goosebumps. This intro is so emotional and a bit menacing at the same time.

This Israeli entry was chosen on 6th February 2024 at HaKokhav HaBa (The Next Star) becoming the 46th Israeli representative at the Eurovision Song Contest.

This year’s Israeli song was created by Avi Ohayon, Keren Peles, Stav Beger. It’s sung in English, with the very ending in Hebrew.

When Eden starts singing the emotions are only growing throughout the stanza, then the prechorus building emotions till the poignant climax in the chorus.

This is just an emotional roller coaster for me.

There’s no jarring note here and this Hurricane is so atmospheric.

The chorus is super catchy and super emotional. I’m just blown away.

This is such a difficult composition to sing and Eden shows great vocal skills.

And this vocalization with these high notes that is so moving, and emotionally reminds me of Jamala’s “1944”, which won the ESC in 2016.

The video clip is also full of touching scenes which beautifully illustrate the song.

Is this going to be a massive hit? What do you think, Guys?

All in all, I’d say this is a great, super emotional song that moves me so much.

As each juror is going to rank all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I will assign points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):

– composition and originality of the song, 10 out of 10;

– quality of the performance on stage (it’s hard to say because there are only snippets of a live performance but I believe, judging by the video clip and excerpts available, this will be 10 out of 10;

– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;

– overall impression of the act, 10 out of 10.

So the total is: 40 out of 40 points that is 100%. Wow, this is the 1^st time I’ve given 40 points to a ESC entry this year.

Will Eden’s Hurricane carry her away to victory? We’ll see if she will get the best result for Israel. To do that Eden would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Israel has been the 1st place; it happened four times in 1978, 1979, 1998 and 2018).

In the end, I can only say: Well done, Eden Golan! Congratulations, Israel! I hope and I’m almost sure Eden will secure a place in the Grand Final and there is a good chance for Israel to achieve one of the best results in its ESC history because I hope that the Eurovision Song Contest is about the music, isn’t it?

What do the bookmakers say about the Israeli entry? Well, at this moment (29^th April 2024) it’s in 7^th place (out of 37 contestants on eurovisionworld.com).

In my personal ranking it’s my number one (you can see my ranking by clicking on the end screen). I got carried away by “Hurricane”. And I don’t want to sound trite but this song is a “hurricane of emotions”.
