This time I’m going to show you my honest reaction to the song that represented Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is “Bird of Pray” by Ziferblat.

Well, frist things first.
This year’s Ukrainian entry was chosen both by the public and jury. Ziferbalt won the public voting and the jury ranked them second.
This year’s Ukrainian song was composed by the band themselves and it’s sung in Ukrainian and English.
What’s the song about?
a mixture of progg, rock, musical theatre, vocal harmonies and fight song with “1970s vibes”.

My heart with someone who
Cares
Of me and my little bird of pray”
Is this going to be a massive hit? Hmm, why not?
All in all, I’d say this is a good song with great vocals.
As each juror ranked all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I assigned points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):
– composition and originality of the song, 7 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage, 9 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 8 out of 10.
So the total is: 34 out of 40 points that is 85%.
I asked a question: “Will Ziferblat’s bird lead them to victory?” To get the best result for Ukraine they would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Ukraine so far was the 1st place; it happened thrice: it was in 2004, 2016 and 2022).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, Ziferblat! Congratulations, Ukraine! I assumed this song might qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depended on the other entries as well. Do you agree, Guys?
What did the bookmakers say about the Ukrainian entry? Well, at that moment (19th April 2025) it was in the 11th place (on eurovisionworld.com).
