Eurovision 2023 – 1st Entry Chosen – TVORCHI to Represent Ukraine With “Heart of Steel”

17th December Ukraine chose its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. This is the 1st song for the Contest known for the public. Who’s that?

The show was hosted by the Eurovision commentator Timur Miroshnychenko and song contest stars Zlata Ognevich (ESC 2013) and Kateryna Pavlenko (ESC 2020/2021). Ten entries competed for the victory and the contest was won by TVORCHI who will respresent Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, UK with a song “Heart of Steel“.

Ukrainian National Selection Vidbir 2023 included ten different entries that were selected by the musical director of the show – Dmytro Shurov (Pianoboy).

The judging panel was chosen by the Ukrainian public themselves in a public vote. Ukrainians chose Jamala (ESC 2016), Taras Topolia (pop star) and Julia Sanina (The Hardkiss). The final result was decided by the public and the jury (50% / 50%). The public could vote via the Diia application which allowed Ukrainians who stay abroad to vote as well.

Who is TVORCHI?

TVORCHI are a Ukrainian electronic music band from Ternopil. It was created in 2018 by the sound producer Andrew Hutsuliak and vocalist Jeffery Augustus Kenny from Nigeria. He came to Ukraine to study medicine. They both graduated from the university in Ternopil in medicine. In 2020 they took part in the National Selection with a song “Bonfire” and finished fourth. They have released four studio albums so far: The Parts (2018), Disco Lights (2019), 13 Waves (2020) and Road (2020).
