This time I’m going to show you my most sincere reaction to the song that will represent Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. This is “Too Epic to Be True” by Vanilla Ninja.

Well, frist things first.

This Estonian entry was chosen finally by the public (but in the semi-finals both by the public (50%) and the jury (50%) where it came third (1^st in the public voting and 6^th in the jury voting).

This year’s Estonian song was created by Sven Lõhmus. It’s sung in English.

What’s the song about?

“Too epic to be true

But here I am with you

The spark between us

Wrote the plot for us

Too epic to be true”

Vanilla Ninja – its name “Vanilla Ninja” combined the idea of something sweet or conventional (“Vanilla”) with the skilled, and energetic image of a “Ninja”. They were formed in 2002 and in 2005 they represented Switzerland in the ESC finishing 8^th in the final with the song “Cool Vibes”.

And what’s interesting Sven also wrote the Estonian song for the ESC 2005 when Vanilla Ninja represented Switzerland.

Vanilla Ninja delivered a confident and emotional vocal performance. Their voices sound strong and controlled, especially in the chorus, where the harmonies were clear and powerful.

The lead vocal stood out with a slightly rock-inspired tone that matched the song’s energy.

There were a few small moments where the vocals were not ideal, but overall they stayed on pitch and showed good stability.

The backing vocals supported the main singer very well and added depth to the performance.

In general, their live singing feels professional, expressive, and full of attitude — which makes the performance more impactful on stage.

Is this going to be a banger? Hmm, first let’s ask a question: Is this song going to make it to the Grand Final?

All in all, I’d say this is a very good song with great vocals.

As each juror is going to rank all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I will assign points in the same categories (eurovision.com):

– composition and originality of the song, 8 out of 10;

– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;

– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;

– overall impression of the act, 8 out of 10.

So the total is: 36 out of 40 points that is 90%.

Will Vanilla Ninja’s “Epic” lead them to victory? We’ll see if they will get the best result for Estonia. To do that they would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Estonia so far was the 1^st place; it happened once: it was in 2001).

In the end, I can only say: Well done, Vanilla Ninja! Congratulations, Estonia! I assume this song might qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depends on the other entries as well. What do you tink, Guys?

What do the bookmakers say about the Estonian entry? Well, at this moment (20^th February 2026) Estonia is in 30^th place (eurovisionworld.com).
