This time I’m going to show you my most sincere reaction to the song that will represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. This is “Regarde !” (in English: Look) by ‘Monroe whose full name’s Monroe Vata Rigby.

Well, first things first.

The French entry was chosen internally.

This year’s French song was created by Christopher Cohen, Fred Savio, Fredie Marche, Maxime Morise. It’s sung in French.

What genre is that? It’s a pop song with strong operatic and classical influences.

What’s the song about?

“When everything glows

Across all of Paris

When the streets fall silent

I stay here

I searched for your love

Through every neighbourhood

I sing about it every day

Look at me, look at yourself

That’s what love is, it hits you like lightning

Look at me, look at yourself

That’s love

You will never be lost”

“Regarde !” is about wanting someone to truly see and understand you, beyond the surface.

Monroe is an French-American singer.

Monroe was born to ‘Mormon parents who immigrated to France from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She also has four older brothers who have competed in tennis. Having spent her childhood in the United States, Rigby began singing at an early age. As a child, she sang in the church choir, where she discovered her interest in classical music. She then received vocal training and also learned to play the piano.

A fun fact: Monroe won the French TV series Prodiges. As a result, she released her debut studio album Monroe, which features classical pieces and crossover songs.

Vocal analysis:

Monroe’s vocals are very controlled operatic with strong high notes, but some might say that slightly more technical than emotional.

Is this going to be a banger? Hmm, first let’s ask a question: Will this song be successful in the Grand Final?

All in all, I’d say this is a very good song with great vocals.

As each juror is going to rank all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I will assign points in the same categories (eurovision.com):

– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;

– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;

– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;

– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.

So the total is: 38 out of 40 points that is 95%.

Will Monroe’s “Look” lead her to victory? We’ll see if she will get the best result for France. To do that she would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for France so far has been the 1st place; it happened five times: it was in 1958, 1960, 1962, 1969 and 1977).

In the end, I can only say: Well done, Monroe! Congratulations, France! I assume this song might be successfula in the Grand Final because France doesn’t have to qualify for the Grand Final as the member of the so-called Big Five. What do you think, Guys?

What do the bookmakers say about the French entry? Well, at this moment (14^th April 2026) France is in 2^nd/35 place.
