This time I’m going to show you my honest reaction to the song that will represent Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is “Freedom” by Mariam Shengelia.

Well, frist things first. It’s pop music.
This year’s Georgian entry was chosen internally.
This year’s Georgian song was composed by a party of two and it’s sung in Georgian and English.
What’s the song about?
On the Internet one can find: “The lyrics convey a message of hope and determination, giving faith in the journey ahead. Images of blue and cloudless skies and calm yet stormy seas further deepen the emotional charge. The lyrics emphasize a pure and unwavering love for freedom and homeland, while Shengelia declares that she has no other riches to seek”.
“Freedom is the heaven’s gift we share
Freedom is the human wealth to care
Freedom is the mountain spring fresh air
People, let it be here and there, everywhere”
Is this going to be a massive hit? Hmm, why not?
All in all, I’d say this is a good song with great vocals.
As each juror is going to rank all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I will assign points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):
– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage 10 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 8 out of 10.
So the total is: 37 out of 40 points that is 93%.
The question was: “Will Mariam’s freedom lead her to victory?” We’ll see if she will get the best result for Georgia. To do that she would have to finish at least 8th (as the best result for Georgia so far was the 9th place; it happened twice: it was in 2010 and 2011).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, Mariam! Congratulations, Georgia! I assume this song will qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depends on the other entries as well. Do you agree, Guys?
What do the bookmakers say about the Georgian entry? Well, at this moment (3rd May 2025) it’s in the 35th place (on eurovisionworld.com).
