This time I’m going to show you my honest reaction on the song that represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is “Asteromáta” (in English “Starry-eyed”) by Klavdia whose full name is Klavdia Papadopoulou.

Well, frist things first.
This year’s Greek entry was chosen by the public and both national and internationa jury. Klavdia won the national jury’s and public’s voting. International jury place Klavdia third.
This year’s Greek song was composed by lavdia herslef and Arcade and is sung in Greek.
What’s the song about?
The song talks about Greek, and other, refugees and that special bond between them and their home land, which they never forget, wherever they are. A metaphorical dialogue is being formed between a mother and her missing child, which comforts her and viceversa.
In an interview, Klavdia, who is of Pontic Greek descent, explained that the message of the song intends to honor those who were forced to abandon their homeland, transmitting a message of hope and resilience.
“Oh, my little starry-eyed one
Lean, let me hold you
Let these weary, forgotten wings
Find their last breath upon you”
Is this going to be a massive hit? Hmm, why not?
All in all, I’d say this is a good song with great vocals.
As each juror ranked the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I assigned points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):
– composition and originality of the song, 8 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage, 9 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 8 out of 10.
So the total is: 35 out of 40 points that is 88%.
My question was: “Will Klavdia’s stars lead her to victory? To get the best result for the Greece she would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Greece so far has been the 1st place; it happened once: it was in 2005).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, Klavdia! Congratulations, Greece! I assumed this song would qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depended on the other entries as well. Do you agree, Guys?
What did the bookmakers say Greek entry? Well, at that moment (23rd March 2025) it was in the 20th place (on eurovisionworld.com).
