Iceland’s chosen its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, which takes place in Malmö, Sweden. It’s Hera Björk, who’ll represent her country, which is taking part in the ESC for the 36th time.
The composition
The title of the song’s “Scared of Heights” and it was created by Ásdís María Viðarsdóttir, Ferras Alqaisi, Jaro Omar and Michael Burek. It’s sung in English.

The procedure
The Icelandic entry was chosen by the public and the jury in the first round. In the final round it was the audience who voted Hera Iceland’s ESC 2024 representative.
What do we know about Hera Björk?
Hera Björk is an Icelandic singer with rich musical achievements: she has been creating for over 20 years and has four solo albums published. She has appeared on the Eurovision stage four times, including three times as backing vocals: in 2008, 2009 and 2015. She also represented Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, where she presented the song “Je ne sais quoi”, sung in English and French. The song qualified for the finals and finished 19th in the competition.

The Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Malmö, Sweden on Tuesday, 7th May (the First Semi-final), Thursday, 9th May (the Second Semi-final) and Saturday, 11th May (the Grand Final) 2024.
