Portugal wins the ESC 2026. True or false? Stay with me to the very end of this text to find out if this is possible at all. And if you read the text till the end, youโ€™ll be able to hear my song โ€œIโ€™m Choosing a New Eraโ€ that I submitted to the Polish Preselection for the ESC 2026.

Hello, Guys!

This is your EurovisionaryVoice calling! My nameโ€™s Janusz Jacek Siwiorek JJS. I present my reactions here.

This time Iโ€™m going to show you my most sincere reaction to the song that will represent Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. This is โ€œRosaโ€ by Bandidos do Cante.

Letโ€™s watch the video:

Bandidos do Cante โ€“ โ€œRosaโ€ (LIVE) โ€“ Portugal ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น | Eurovision 2026 | Reaction

Well, first things first.

The Portuguese entry was chosen both by the jury and public. Bandidos won the public vote and came second in the jury voting.

This yearโ€™s Portuguese song was created by Duarte Farias, Francisco Pereira, Francisco Pestana, Francisco Raposo, Gonรงalo Narciso, Gui Alface, Josรฉ Carlos Coelho, Almeida Tavares, Luis Aleixo, Miguel Costa. Itโ€™s sung in Portuguese.

What genre is that? It blends traditional Portuguese cante alentejano with modern folk elements, creating a raw, emotional choral sound with rich harmonies.

Whatโ€™s the song about?

โ€œThere is no rush in the place I come from

There is no price for this peace

If I failed, I paid in double

Little remains, or almost nothing

Only the roses I have planted

When we were true

Little remains, I didn’t water them

And the garden turned into longing

My love, if this evening

I set foot in my garden

There I will find roses

They remind me of youโ€

The song is about remembering someone special called Rosa, with feelings of love, nostalgia, and quiet sadness.

Bandidos do Cante are a Portuguese musical group originating from the Alentejo region. The quinโ€™tet is composed of Miguel Costa, Duarte Farias, Francisco Raposo, Luรญs Aleixo and Francisco Pestana. The group distinguishes themselves by its fusion of Cante Alentejano and contemporary and pop sounds.

A fun fact: The group’s history began almost by accident, one evening at dinner that ended in singing. From this gathering came the invitation, at the end of 2022, to record vocals on the single “Casa”, by the band D.A.M.A in collaboration with Buba Espinho.

๐ŸŽค Vocal analysis:

The vocals are deep and warm, especially the lead voice.

The singing is very emotional but controlled (not over-the-top).

There is a strong call-and-response style between the lead and the group.

The harmonies are rich and full, creating a powerful atmosphere.

The delivery feels raw and authentic, like a live, communal experience.

Overall, the vocals are deep, emotional, and very authentic, with strong group harmonies and a traditional choral feel.

Is this going to be a banger? Hmm, first letโ€™s ask a question: Is this song going to make it to the Grand Final?

All in all, Iโ€™d say this is a very good song with great vocals.

As each juror is going to rank all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I will assign points in the same categories (eurovision.com):

– composition and originality of the song, 8 out of 10;

– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;

– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;

– overall impression of the act, 8 out of 10.

So the total is: 36 out of 40 points that is 90%.

Will Bandidosโ€™ โ€œRosaโ€ lead them to victory? Weโ€™ll see if they will get the best result for Portugal. To do that they would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Portugal so far was the 1st place; it happened once: it was in 2017).

In the end, I can only say: Well done, Bandidos do Cante! Congratulations, Portugal! I assume this song might qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depends on the other entries as well. What do you think, Guys?

What do the bookmakers say about the Portuguese entry? Well, at this moment (1st April 2026) Portugal is in 31st/35 place.

Letโ€™s hear it for Felicia and the whole team!
