Simón – “Paloma Rumba” (LIVE) – Armenia 🇦🇲| Eurovision 2026 | Reaction

Armenia wins the ESC 2026. True or false? Stay with me to the very end of this text to find out if this is possible at all. And if you read this text till the end, you’ll be able to hear my song “I’m Choosing a New Era” that I submitted to the Polish Preselection for the ESC 2026.

Hello, Guys!

This is your EurovisionaryVoice calling! My name’s Janusz Jacek Siwiorek JJS. I present my reactions here.

This time I’m going to show you my most sincere reaction to the song that will represent Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. This is “Paloma rumba” by Simón (whose full name’s Simon Hovhannisyan).

Let’s watch the video:

Simón – “Paloma Rumba” (LIVE) – Armenia 🇦🇲 | Eurovision 2026 | Reaction

Well, first things first.

The Armenian entry was chosen internally.

This year’s Armenian song was created by David Tserunyan, Eva Voskanyan, Lilit Navasardyan, Roza Kostandyan. It’s sung in English.

What genre is that? Latin pop / dance-pop with rumba influences.

What’s the song about?

“Paloma Rumba, let’s go

Rock this, rock this

Delete my number burn the phone

Rock this, rock this

I’m not a machine, just stuck on a wage

In a rage, as a cage, with a badge, oh no

Can’t take no more, take no more

I’m done for sure, yeah (put on a smile and go on)”

“Paloma Rumba” is essentially about freedom, passion, and letting go through dance.

  • The “paloma” (dove) symbolizes freedom, lightness, and escape.
  • The “rumba” represents movement, rhythm, and emotional release.

The song tells a story of someone who: breaks free from limitations or emotional weight , follows their instincts and desires, expresses themselves through music and dance.

All in all, It’s about freedom and passion—losing yourself in the music and expressing your true self.

Simón is an Armenian singer, songwriter and dancer.

A fun fact: Simón took part in the Armenian Preselection finishing second (won the international and national jury vote but finished fourth in the televote).

Vocal analysis:

The vocals are energetic and rhythmic, matching the dance vibe of the song.

Simón uses a bright, slightly nasal tone, which helps the voice cut through the beat.

There’s more focus on attitude and performance than on big vocal runs.

The delivery feels confident and playful, especially in the chorus.

Some parts are almost spoken or chant-like, which adds to the club energy.

It’s not about vocal complexity—it’s about charisma, rhythm, and keeping the energy high.

The vocals are more about energy and attitude than technique—they really drive the rhythm and performance.

Is this going to be a banger? Hmm, first let’s ask a question: Is this song going to make it to the Grand Final?

All in all, I’d say this is a very good song with great vocals.

As each juror is going to rank all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I will assign points in the same categories (eurovision.com):

– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;

– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;

– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;

– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.

So the total is: 38 out of 40 points that is 95%.

Will Simón’s “Paloma Rumba” lead him to victory? We’ll see if he will get the best result for Armenia. To do that he would have to finish at least 3rd (as the best result for Armenia so far was the 4th place; it happened twice: it was in 2008 and 2014).

In the end, I can only say: Well done, Simón! Congratulations, Armenia! I assume this song might qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depends on the other entries as well. What do you think, Guys?

What do the bookmakers say about the Armenian entry? Well, at this moment (7th April 2026) Armenia is in 22nd/35 place.

Let’s hear it for Simón and the whole team!
