Italy wins the ESC 2026. True or false? Stay with me to the very end of this text to find out if this is possible at all. And if you read the text till the end, you’ll be able to hear my song “I’m Choosing a New Era” that I submitted to the Polish Preselection for the ESC 2026.
Hello, Guys!
This is your EurovisionaryVoice calling! My name’s Janusz Jacek Siwiorek JJS. I present my reactions and comments here.
This time I’m going to show you my most sincere reaction to the song that will represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. This is “Per sempre sì” (in English: “Forever Yes”) by Sal Da Vinci (whose real name’s Salvatore Michael Sorrentino).
Let’s watch the video:
Sal Da Vinci – “Per sempre sì” (LIVE) – Italy 🇮🇹 | Eurovision 2026 | Reaction
Well, first things first.
The Italian entry was chosen by 33% radio jury, 33% press jury (TV, online media) and 34% televoting. And the results in the final were combined with the results from the first three nights. Sal Da Vinci came second in televoting and radio jury and fourth in the press jury voting.
This year’s Italian song was created by Alessandro La Cava, Eugenio Maimone, Francesco Sorrentino, Federica Abbate, Federico Mercuri, Giordano Cremona, Salvatore Michael Sorrentino. It’s sung in Italian.
What genre is that? It’s a melodic pop ballad with classic romantic styling.
What’s the song about?
“And the music will start playing
And here I will wait for you
The greatest day
I will give to you
It will be you and me
Forever
Bound for life because
Without you
Life is worth nothing
There is no sense in living
With my hand upon my chest
I promise it to you
Before God”
The song is about a deep, lasting love where the singer expresses a sincere promise to stay committed forever. It’s a romantic declaration of saying “yes” to love for life, emphasizing devotion, emotional connection, and the desire to build a future together despite any challenges.
Sal Da Vinci is an Italian singer, songwriter and actor.
A fun fact: Sal was born in New York City. And he performed for the first time in front of a paying audience at the age of six.
Vocal analysis:
The vocals are warm, expressive, and very controlled, typical of classic Italian ballads. Sal uses a rich chest voice in the verses, giving the song depth and sincerity.
The phrasing is smooth and legato, with clear diction that highlights the emotional storytelling.
In the chorus, he adds more intensity and slight vi’brato, which enhances the romantic feel.
There’s a touch of Neapolitan-styleornamentation, making the performance feel traditional and heartfelt.
Is this going to be a banger? Hmm, first let’s ask a question: Is this song going to be successful in the Grand Final?
All in all, I’d say this is a very good song with great vocals.
As each juror is going to rank all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I will assign points in the same categories (eurovision.com):
– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.
So the total is: 38 out of 40 points that is 95%.
Will Sal’s “Yes” lead him to victory? We’ll see if he will get the best result for Italy. To do that he would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Italy so far was the 1st place; it happened thrice: it was in 1964, 1990 and 2021).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, Sal! Congratulations, Italy! I assume this song might be successfula in the Grand Final because Italy doesn’t have to qualify for the Grand Final as the member of the so-called Big Five. What do you think, Guys?
What do the bookmakers say about the Italian entry? Well, at this moment (18th April 2026) Italy is in 10th/35 place.
Let’s hear it for Sal and the whole team!
