This time I’m going to show you my most sincere reaction to the song that will represent Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. This is “Andromeda” by ‘Lelek that is a Croatian folk-pop all-female band.

Well, first things first.

This Croatian entry was chosen both by the public and the jury (regional 25% and international 25%) > it came first both in the jury and public voting.

This year’s Croatian song was created by Filip Lacković, Lazar Pajić, Tomislav Roso, Zorica Pajić. It’s sung in Croatian.

What’s the song about?

“Take me to yourself

Queen Earth

Yours is the soul

Only a body to them

Lead me to the stars

To the shattered nests

Where, with screams

They see the soldiers off

Lead me to the stars

Far from every gaze

Andromeda”

It is a deep and emotional song about identity, history, and staying strong through difficult times. It’s inspired by real historical struggles of women in the Balkans and talks about protecting who you are, even when facing fear or oppression. The “Andromeda” symbol gives it a cosmic, almost spiritual feeling — like looking to the stars for strength and hope.

Lelek was formed in Zagreb in 2024 and consists of Inka Večerina Perušić, Judita Štorga, Korina Olivia Rogić, Lara Brtan and Marina Ramljak.

A fun fact: Lelek took part in 2025 in the Croatian ESC Preselection finishing fourth.

In their live performance, the vocals are emotive and folk-inspired, blending together with traditional pop elements. They aim for strong harmonies, but some might claim that sometimes some singers sound a bit shaky or uneven, especially on higher or more intense parts — this can make the voices feel raw rather than polished. Still, the effort to blend harmonies and convey emotion gives the live vocal a distinct folk-pop character that fits the song’s mood.

Is this going to be a banger? Hmm, first let’s ask a question: Is this song going to make it to the Grand Final?

All in all, I’d say this is a very good song with good vocals.

As each juror is going to rank all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I will assign points in the same categories (eurovision.com):

– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;

– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;

– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;

– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.

So the total is: 38 out of 40 points that is 95%.

Will Lelek’s “Andromeda” lead them to victory? We’ll see if they will get the best result for Croatia. To do that they would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Croatia so far was the 2nd place; it happened once: it was in 2024).

In the end, I can only say: Well done, Lelek! Congratulations, Croatia! I assume this song might qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depends on the other entries as well. What do you think, Guys?

What do the bookmakers say about the Croatian entry? Well, at this moment (28^th February 2026) Latvia is in 19^th/35 place (eurovisionworld.com).
