This time I’m going to show you my honest reaction on the song that will represent Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is “La poupée monte le son” (in English “The doll turns up the volume”) by Laura Thorn.

Well, frist things first.
This year’s Luxembourgish entry was chosen both by the public and jury. Laura won the jury voting and came second according to the audience.
This year’s Luxembourg’s song is sung in French.
What’s the song about?
The song was described as a homage ‘h mıd to France Gall’s song “Poupée de cire, poupée de son”, Luxembourg’s winning Eurovision entry in 1965.
Laura Thorn said that “a doll is controlled by someone. The one I sing about no longer lets itself be done”, referring to an opposite approach to Gall’s song.

Is this going to be a massive hit? Hmm, why not?
All in all, I’d say this is a decent song with great, very good vocals.
As each juror ranked all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I assigned points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):
– composition and originality of the song, 6 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage, 8 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 9 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 8 out of 10.
So the total is: 31 out of 40 points that is 78%.
My question was: “Will Laura’s doll lead her to victory?” To get the best result for Luxembourg Laura would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Luxembourg so far has been the 1st place; it happened five times: it was in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973 and 1983).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, Laura! Congratulations, Luxembourg! I assumed this song might qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depended on the other entries as well. Do you agree, Guys?
What did the bookmakers say about Luxebmourg’s entry? Well, at that moment (23rd March 2025) it was in the 31st place (on eurovisionworld.com).
