This time I’m going to show you my most sincere reaction to the song that will represent Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. This is “Just Go” by Jiva whose full name’s Jamila Hashimova.

Well, first things first.

The Azerbaijani entry was chosen internally.

This year’s Azerbaijani song was created by Fuad Javadov. It’s sung in English and Azerbaijani.

What genre is that? Pop ballad (with R&B/soul elements).

What’s the song about?

“I carried your love inside my heart each day

You said our fire would never fade away

Your name was my dream at night

Your name when I saw the light

Oh, I was yours all the way

But now I see through your disguise

The truth is burning in my eyes

Go, I don’t love you anymore

Go, without you I’ll shine

You know

I’ll erase you from my soul

Go, I don’t wanna see your face

Go, no more tears will ever flow

I’m begging you – just go”

The song is about is about letting someone go after a painful relationship.

The singer is heartbroken but realistic.

She knows the relationship is over, even if it still hurts

Instead of fighting, she chooses to say: “Just go” — meaning leave, it’s better this way.

Jiva is an Azerbaijani singer and songwriter. She won The Voice of Azerbaijan. Her repertoire includes pop, dance, and R&B, which she performs in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English.

A fun fact: Jiva was born in Moscow. In 2011, she participated in the national selection rounds for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.

Vocal analysis (simple English)

• Tone:
  Warm and smooth, slightly airy. It sounds emotional and gentle, not aggressive.
• Verses:
  She sings softly and intimately, with good control. The delivery feels personal and honest.
• Chorus:
  The voice opens up into a clear, stronger sound, using a light belt but still keeping softness.
• Emotion:
  You can hear sadness and acceptance. It feels calm rather than dramatic, which fits the song.
• Technique:
  Good breath control and clean phrasing, no oversinging.

Overall:

Soft, emotional, controlled vocals that focus more on feeling than power

Is this going to be a banger? Hmm, first let’s ask a question: Is this song going to make it to the Grand Final?

All in all, I’d say this is a very good song with great vocals.

As each juror is going to rank all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I will assign points in the same categories (eurovision.com):

– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;

– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;

– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;

– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.

So the total is: 38 out of 40 points that is 95%.

Will Jiva’s “Just Go” lead her to victory? We’ll see if they will get the best result for Azerbaijan. To do that she would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Azerbaijan so far was the 1^st place; it happened once: it was in 2011).

In the end, I can only say: Well done, Jiva! Congratulations, Azerbaijan! I assume this song might qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depends on the other entries as well. What do you think, Guys?

What do the bookmakers say about the Azerbaijani entry? Well, at this moment (26^th March 2026) Azerbaijan is in 33^rd/35 place.
