Doda – “Fake Love” – Poland?? | OGAE Song Contest 2022

Doda (whose real name is Dorota Rabczewska) with her song “Fake Love” will represent Poland in the OGAE Song Contest 2022. This year, OGAE Song Contest and OGAE Video Contest have become one and this means that the song chosen by the national OGAE clubs (that actually are Eurovision fans) is also fighting for the title of the best music video.
The Polish OGAE have chosen Doda’s song from 46 original songs, picked by the members themselves, following certain rules of the competition. In order to be eligible for inclusion, a song must:
1.       Have been released on an album or as a single on vinyl, CD or as a digital download, or as a video, not earlier than 1st January 2021;
2.       Be an original version (not a cover or a remix);
3.       Not include samples of any other song;
4.       The relevant song shall not have competed in the Eurovision Song Contest, Junior Eurovision, OGAE Second Chance Contest or any related public pre-selections;
5.       The video (if there’s any) must have been released by the relevant artist;
6.       The song and/or the video shall be a studio version of the song, not a live recording or part of a film etc;
7.       The performer must be an individual with the nationality of the nominating OGAE national club. For groups, at least one performer must be of the nationality of the nominating national club;
8.       Be of a maximum duration of 5 minutes. Videos should be no longer than 5 minutes (excluding credits) (OGAE International Website, https://ogaeinternational.org/ogae-song-contest-rules/).

Ralph Kaminski came second and Sanah with Daria Zawialow finished third. In this way Doda and her “Fake Love” will fight for the second Polish victory in this contest with Kylie Minogue among others who will represent with Years & Years Australia, which is this year’s host as last year they won the contest.
The OGAE Song Contest has been held since 1986. Poland triumphed once: in 1998 Eurovision fans liked the song “Im więcej Ciebie, tym mniej” (“The more you, the less”) by Natalia Kukulska.
In the OGAE Video Contest, which has been taking place since 2003, Poland also won once – in 2008, Justyna Steczkowska’s video clip for the song “Kim tu jestem” (“Who am I here”) turned out to be the best.
As we can read below the video clip on YouTube channel ‘Fake Love’ was created (both music and lyrics) by Doda, Patryk Kumór, Dominic Buczkowski-Wojtaszek, Radboud Miedema, Twan Raymond de Boer, Emily Middlemas.
Patryk Kumór and Dominic Buczkowski-Wojtaszek cooperated in the creation of the winning song in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 “Superhero” by Viki Gabor and “Somebody” by Sara James who finished in the second place in the same contest in 2021. Patryk Kumór also cooperated in the creation of the winner of JESC 2018 (“Anyone I Want to Be” by Roksana Węgiel). Maybe this can be a hopeful sign and they can help to win.
“Fake Love” (as you could hear) starts with a delicate intro and good Doda’s delicate vocals in English in a kind of disco/club style.
Then we can hear the Polish language – a pattern we know from Junior Eurovision where part of the song has to be sung in the native language. We have to admit that this pattern suits this song very well.
The video clip is full of emotions and sexy scenes where Doda is either solo, or accompanied by dancers and one actor who’s Kamil Nożyński.
The voting period is between 1st September and 15th November 2022 and the results will be revealed no later than 30th November.

So, good luck, Doda! Best of luck, Poland!
