I said: “Poland wins the ESC 2025. True or false?” Stay with me to the very end of this text to find out if this was possible at all.
Hello, Guys!
This is your EurovisionaryVoice calling! I present my reactions/comments here.
This time I’m going to show you my honest reaction to the song that represented Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is “Gaja” by Justyna Steczkowska.
Let’s watch the video:
Justyna Steczkowska – “Gaja” (LIVE) – Poland 🇵🇱 | Eurovision Song Contest 2025 | Reaction
Well, frist things first.
This year’s Polish entry was chosen only by the public.
This song was composed by a team of four including Justyna Steczkowska herself and it’s sung in Polish and English.
What’s the song about?
Justyna Steczkowska stated:
»Gaia« is a manifestation of personal power and transcendence. Gaia, in Greek mythology – »Mother Earth«, becomes here a symbol of divinity, strength and love. [The artist] combines both the divine and human spheres in her character. Gaia’s cry has the power to transform the world. As a mother and guardian figure, she has control over time and destiny. She also has a powerful power to transform the world, becoming a symbol of regaining control over one’s own destiny and time.
„Moje imię GAJA
Jestem BOGIEM
Siłą Moją matką MIŁOŚĆ
Kiedy płaczę To we łzach tonie świat
Tulę w swych ramionach zaginiony CZAS”
“They call me Gaia
I’m the love, I’m the life of all imagined
The world drowns as it watches me cry
I’ll be holding it close in my arms”
Is this going to be a massive hit? Hmm, why not?
- What’s worth mentioning here Justyna Steczkowska has already taken part in the ESC – it was in 1995 with a song “Sama” and she came 18th (starting as the first). And she competed in the 1st semi-final exactly 30 years after her appearance in 1995 that was 13th May;
- Justyna is praised for great vocals – doing all these things on stage – dancing, floating high in the air – however, she fought for being able to float in the air in Basel as she did during the Polish selection but in the end she was said to not be allowed to do that. But after a long ‘fight’ Justyna Steczkowska was permitted to do so. As Justyna Steczkowska stated herself she wanted to do that as the 1st in the ESC especially that it’s so difficult to sing in such a position. Instead of that she was said to have to use a platform;
- I think that this element of her “Witch Tarohoro” (that is known for ESC fans because last year Justyna Steczkowska wanted to represent Poland in 2024 but she finished second) worked to her favour because ESC fans had been already introduced to this fragment. This part is in Old Slavic that has never been presented in the ESC (these are positive agmas which give power, strength):
“Zargo, Raga, Urra, Gara
Jarga, Jarun, Era, Czarodoro”
- The costume was to be different from the National Selection and it was;
- The violin player didn’t take part in the ESC as he wasn’t allowed to due to provisions in the contract of one of his concerts.
All in all, I’d say this is a good song with great vocals.
As each juror ranked all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I assigned points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):
– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.
So the total is: 38 out of 40 points that is 95%.
My question was: “Will Justyna’s Gaja lead her to victory?” To get the best result for Poland Justyna would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Poland so far was the 2nd place; it happened once: it was in 1994).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, Justyna Steczkowska! Congratulations, Poland! I assumed this song would qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depended on the other entries as well. Do you agree, Guys?
What did the bookmakers say about the Polish entry? Well, at that moment (19th April 2025) it was in the 24th place (on eurovisionworld.com).
Let’s hear it for Justyna Steczkowska and the whole team!

Should Poland be higher than 14th?
