This time I’m going to show you my most sincere reaction to the song that will represent Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. This is “Crossroads” by Daniel Žižka.

Well, first things first.
The Czech entry was chosen internally.
This year’s Czech song was created by Daniel Žižka himself and Viliam Béreš. It’s sung in English.
What genre is that? Indie pop / alternative pop.
What’s the song about?
“Follow a voice unknown
Learn how to swim in open waters on your own
A jar hollow won’t reach the ocean floor
Where foreign fields and tangled strings unfold
Mother I’ll get lost without a map
There’s too many ways
Inside this vicious spider web
Crossroads
Patterns and exceptions interwoven”
“Crossroads” is about facing an important life decision and choosing your path. The “crossroads” symbolizes a moment where you have to decide which direction to take in life
It reflects feelings of uncertainty, doubt, and inner conflict. At the same time, there’s a sense of growth and courage – moving forward despite not knowing the outcome.
The song tells a story of someone who: feels stuck between different choices, is afraid of making the wrong decision, but realizes they need to trust themselves and move on.
All in all, It’s about being at a turning point in life and finding the courage to choose your own path.
Daniel Žižka is a Czech singer, songwriter and actor.
A fun fact: Although the selection was internal it was determined by the combination of votes from an international jury of music professionals and a demoscopic jury composed of members from three countries following an audition round at the ČT studios, and was presented to the public on 11 March alongside an accompanying music video.
Vocal analysis:
The vocals are soft and controlled at the beginning, creating an intimate, emotional mood;
Daniel uses a warm, slightly breathy tone, which adds vulnerability;
As the song builds, the voice becomes stronger and more open, especially in the chorus;
There’s a clear dynamic progression—from quiet reflection to emotional release;
Subtle cracks and texture in the voice make it feel more authentic and raw.
All in all, the vocals build from soft and intimate to more powerful and emotional, really highlighting the inner struggle in the song.
Is this going to be a banger? Hmm, first let’s ask a question: Is this song going to make it to the Grand Final?
All in all, I’d say this is a very good song with great vocals.
As each juror is going to rank all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I will assign points in the same categories (eurovision.com):
– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.
So the total is: 38 out of 40 points that is 95%.
Will Daniel’s “Crossroads” lead him to victory? We’ll see if he will get the best result for Czechia. To do that he would have to finish at least 5th (as the best result for Czechia so far has been the 6th place; it was in 2018).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, Daniel! Congratulations, Czechia! I assume this song might qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depends on the other entries as well. What do you think, Guys?
What do the bookmakers say about the Czech entry? Well, at this moment (8th April 2026) Czechia is in 12th/35 place.
