This time I’m going to show you my honest reaction on the song that represented France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is “Maman” (in English “Mother”) by Louane whose full name is Anne Peichert.

Well, frist things first.
This year’s French entry was chosen internally.
This year’s French song was composed by a team of two and one of them was Louane and it’s sung in French.
What’s the song about? Let’s look at the English translation.
“No more lovers
No more beds
In the end, you see
I built my life
And the emptiness is vast
So are the questions
How are you doing?
Do you see everything here?
And I’ve changed a lot
I’ve grown up
From you, I’ve kept
Everything that makes me who I am”
Is this going to be a massive hit? Hmm, why not?
All in all, I’d say this is a good song with great vocals.
As each juror ranked all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I assigned points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):
– composition and originality of the song, 8 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.
So the total is: 37 out of 40 points that is 93%.
I asked a question: “Will Louane’s mother lead him to victory?” To get the best result for France she would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for France so far has been the 1st place; it happened five times: it was in 1958, 1960, 1962, 1969 and 1977).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, Louane! Congratulations, France! Do you agree, Guys?
What did the bookmakers say about the French entry? Well, at that moment (23rd March 2025) it was in the 3rd place (on eurovisionworld.com).
