This time I’m going to show you my honest reaction to the song that represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is “Bara bada bastu” (in English “Just Sauna”) by KAJ that is a Swedish-speaking Finnish music and comedy group. A lot of points from Finland?

Well, frist things first. It’s a mix of genres.
This year’s Swedish entry was chosen both by the public and jury and KAJ won the public voting and was ranked second by the jury.
This year’s Sweden’s song was composed by the party of six (including KAJ members) and it’s sung in Swedish (precisely: in the Finnish dialect of Swedish with a few words in Finnish). It’s the first Swedish-language song at Eurovision since 2012, and the first representing Sweden since 1998.
What’s the song about?
It’s a celebration of the sauna as a space to relax, bond, and reset.
“Yksi kaksi kolme sauna”
English: “One two three Sauna
We’re gonna sauna, sauna
Steam it up and let go of all stress today
Sauna brothers, we’re the ones who glow
100 degrees, oh yes
Just sauna, sauna
Steam it up, till the sweat just sprays
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Sauna, yeah”
Is this going to be a massive hit? Hmm, why not? As far as I know, it’s been already a hit both in Sweden and Finland.
All in all, I’d say this is a good song with great vocals.
As each juror ranked all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I assigned points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):
– composition and originality of the song, 10 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 9 out of 10.
So the total is: 39 out of 40 points that is 98%.
My question was: “Will KAJ’s Sauna lead them to victory?” To get the best result for Sweden they would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for Sweden so far was the 1st place; it happened 7 times: it was in 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, KAJ! Congratulations, Sweden! I assumed this song would qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depended on the other entries as well. Do you agree, Guys?
What did the bookmakers say about the Swedish entry? Well, at that moment (3rd May 2025) it was in the 1st place (on eurovisionworld.com).
