This time I’m going to show you my honest reaction on the song that represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. This is “C’est la vie” by Claude (‘klod’ but then he introduced himself as ‘klaud’ because he was bullied). His full name is Claude Kiambe (and he originally comes from the Democratic Republic of the Congo ).
Let’s watch the first snippet.
Well, frist things first.
This year’s Dutch entry was chosen internally.
This year’s Dutch song was created by Arno Krabman, Claude Kiambe, Joren van der Voort, Léon Paul Palmen and it’s sung in French with some parts in English. And it’s the first time the Netherlands has sent a song in French.
What’s the song about?
Claude described the song as a tribute to a parent, specifically his mother.
He stated that: “Even when things seem dark, it’s important to focus on the brighter side. This is the message I aim to convey—life isn’t always easy; it has its ups, downs, and twists, but ‘C’est la vie’!”

Is this going to be a massive hit? Hmm, why not?
All in all, I’d say this is a very good song with very good vocals.
As each juror ranked all the competing songs in each show based on the given criteria, I assigned points in the same categories (eurovision.tv):
– composition and originality of the song, 9 out of 10;
– quality of the performance on stage, 10 out of 10;
– vocal capacity of the performer(s), 10 out of 10;
– overall impression of the act, 10 out of 10.
So the total is: 39 out of 40 points that is 98%.
My question was: “Will Claude’s Vie lead him to victory?” To get the best result for the Netherlands he would have to win the whole Contest (as the best result for the Netherlands so far has been the 1st place; it happened five times: it was in 1957, 1959, 1969, 1975 and 2019).
In the end, I can only say: Well done, Claude! Congratulations, the Netherlands! I assumed this song would qualify for the Grand Final but of course it depended on the other entries as well.
What did the bookmakers say about the Dutch entry? Well, at that moment (16th March 2025) it was in the 5th place (on eurovisionworld.com).
