Author: Zuzanna Lubaszka

Måneskin is an Italian rock band you’ve certainly heard about, even if you don’t like this kind of music. Four young members of the group are now known all around the world under the name that in the Danish language means ‘moonlight’. A turning point in their career was the Eurovision Song Contest. But let’s start from the beginning.

The early days

Victoria De Angelis, Damiano David and Thomas Raggi first met as students. Drummer Ethan Torchio joined them some time later and this way the band was officially formed in 2016. They started writing their own songs thanks to The Pulse Contest and then their popularity grew accordingly. They were performing in the streets of Rome and giving small live shows during their trip to Denmark. The second place in the Italian talent show X Factor made them better known in Italy and among rock-lovers in other countries. New pieces of music were being released by Måneskin after they had introduced their first single “Chosen”.

The Eurovision Song Contest

However, none of it was as significant as opportunity to take part in the 65th Eurovision Song Contest 2021 and they definitely used the chance. Måneskin sang “Zitti e buoni” in Rotterdam and delighted the audience. They won the contest with an amazing performance receiving a total of 524 points.

Artistic work

And they didn’t rest on their laurels. From that moment on, they’ve been gaining wide popularity all over the world. Måneskin got its loyal fans with many great pieces of music, such as “Gossip”, “The Loneliest”, “I Wanna Be Your Slave” and “Honey (Are U Coming?)”. All of them are beating records of popularity as they are catchy songs with amazing melody and voice of Damiano David.

Members of Måneskin are four young people connected by love to music. You can either like them or not, but nothing will change the fact that their achievement will go down in history. Even “The New York Times” described them as the last big rock band.
